The governor of the region, Vyacheslav Gladkov, said in a telegram message: “Our air defense system moved over Belgorod (…); several air targets were shot down as they approached the city.” “As a result of the direct impact of one of the projectiles on a private residential building, one man died and four people were injured,” the regional leader added on the same platform, reported by Interfax.

The attack occurred in the area at around 11:00 pm (local time) on Friday, and among the victims was a 10-year-old boy, whose condition was “moderate,” according to the governor. The Russian Defense Ministry had previously reported that Russian air defense systems shot down a total of 13 Ukrainian missiles over the region on Friday.

Gladkov explained that in addition to human damage, two cars and ten private homes were affected to varying degrees, and water supply networks in the city of Belgorod were also damaged.
