iOS 27 Siri Redesign Renders Suggest a More ChatGPT-Like Experience

Apple’s long-awaited overhaul of Siri could finally arrive with iOS 27, and newly published renders offer one of the clearest looks yet at how the virtual assistant may evolve. The redesign appears to blend conversational AI features similar to ChatGPT with Apple’s signature Liquid Glass visual style, signalling a significant shift in how iPhone users could interact with Siri in everyday use.

The images, shared by Bloomberg ahead of Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) in June, are reportedly based on information seen by the publication and sources familiar with Apple’s plans. While the final design could still change before release, the renders provide fresh insight into Apple’s broader AI ambitions.

Siri Could Become More Accessible Across iOS 27

One of the most notable changes shown in the renders is a new pill-shaped Siri chat bubble emerging directly from the Dynamic Island. According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, users may be able to launch this interface by swiping down from the centre of the top edge of the display.

The feature is expected to work system-wide across iOS 27, allowing users to begin conversations with Siri regardless of which app is open at the time. The approach mirrors how Android devices currently allow users to quickly launch Google Gemini from almost anywhere in the operating system.

Dynamic Island May Offer Multiple AI Options

The renders also suggest Apple could introduce a drop-down menu within the Dynamic Island, enabling users to switch between different AI services. Options reportedly include “Ask”, “Siri”, and “ChatGPT”.

This would represent a major change in Apple’s AI strategy, potentially giving iPhone users more flexibility over which assistant or AI model handles their queries. Industry analysts have increasingly speculated that Apple may rely on partnerships with third-party AI providers while continuing to develop its own in-house technology.

The move could also help Apple compete more directly with rivals such as Google and Samsung, both of which have aggressively expanded AI features across their mobile ecosystems.

Standalone Siri App Resembles Modern AI Chatbots

Bloomberg’s renders also preview a new standalone Siri application that bears a strong resemblance to existing AI chatbot platforms.

The interface reportedly includes:

Chat-style conversation layout

The app features a central query box with rounded edges, similar to ChatGPT and other generative AI tools currently popular among smartphone users in the UK and globally.

Voice interaction and attachments

Buttons for voice mode and file attachments are also visible in the renders, suggesting Siri could become more capable of handling multimedia prompts and more complex interactions.

Organised chat history

Previous conversations may reportedly be displayed either as a traditional list or as card-style blocks similar to the layout used in Google Keep. This would make it easier for users to revisit earlier requests or continue ongoing conversations.

Apple’s AI Push Expected to Take Centre Stage at WWDC

Apple has faced mounting pressure to modernise Siri as consumer expectations around AI assistants continue to evolve rapidly. Competitors including OpenAI, Google, and Microsoft have all introduced increasingly advanced conversational AI tools over the past two years, reshaping expectations around voice assistants and mobile productivity.

Although Apple has historically taken a more cautious approach to emerging technologies, the company is widely expected to place artificial intelligence at the centre of this year’s WWDC announcements.

For UK consumers, the redesign could make Siri feel considerably more useful in daily tasks, from managing schedules and drafting messages to handling more conversational requests in a natural language format.

A Significant Shift for Siri

If the leaked renders accurately reflect Apple’s plans, iOS 27 could mark Siri’s most substantial redesign since the assistant first launched in 2011. By combining a more modern chatbot interface with deeper system integration, Apple appears to be positioning Siri as a far more capable AI assistant for the next generation of iPhone users.

More details are expected when Apple officially unveils iOS 27 during WWDC in June.
