Gold futures for April delivery were up 0.12%, or 2.40, at $1.00 an ounce. Among other commodities, crude oil futures for May delivery rose 5.92%, or $6.10, to settle at $109.19 a barrel, while Brent crude futures for May delivery rose 6.61%, or $7.13, to $115.06 a barrel.
GBP/USD settled 0.10% at 1.32, while EUR/GBP was unchanged 0.17% at 0.84.
The dollar index rose 0.25 percent to 98.47.
