The United Kingdom’s new prime minister, Liz Truss, attended Britain’s parliament for the first time as “prime minister” on Wednesday, where she defended her star measure, tax cuts, in the face of opposition criticism. British Labor Party, Keir Starmer.

The Labor leader criticized the new prime minister, who he referred to for trying to launch a “truss tax” that would benefit banks. Along the same lines, Representative Ian Blackford stated that this measure will be tolerated by families “for years to come”.

“There is nothing new in the fantasy of the Conservative economy,” Starmer said in Parliament, adding that families and public services need every penny they can get, so now is not the time for corporate tax relief, according to the BBC.

During this first session of Truss in office, British parliamentarians were able to ask direct questions to the new “prime minister”, who accepted her post on Tuesday, thus ending the renewal process within the Conservative Party that began on July 7 with the announcement of the resignation of former Prime Minister Boris Johnson.

On Tuesday, Truss announced a government marked by a general reshaping of practically the front line, despite the fact that he does not expect major political changes regarding the Johnson era. For this reason, the prime minister decided to keep Ben Wallace as defense minister, a key figure in London’s strategy in the context of the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
