University’s president Autonomous University of Nuevo LeonSantos Guzmán Lopez, presided over a meeting External advisory boardwhose headquarters were the multi-purpose hall of the medical school and the University Hospital from the health complex.
In session No. 236 of the Council headed by Alejandro Guzman de la GarzaGuzmán López provided Council members with a summary of activities during the months of June, July and August 2023, a year that highlights the celebrations of the 90th anniversary of UANL.
The university president emphasized the way the university is working to expand educational coverage in the state through academic units in the various municipalities of the entity.
By decentralizing the university and creating different academic units and continuous training of our faculty members, we have been able to offer the same educational quality to more students in the state, giving them more and better tools.
Similarly, Guzmán López told the external advisory board members what the university had done this year More than 50 events Academic, cultural, sports, award ceremonies, area openings and new facilities such as Obispado’s unit CIDEBamong others.
UANL vision
The President of the External Advisory Council, Alejandro Guzmán de la Garza, highlighted Guzmán López’s work at the helm of the Supreme Council for State Studies and made particular mention of the work done in relation to academic exchanges and the creation of the Secretariat for Inclusion and Gender Equality.
“Currently, there are 850 students who come out to represent us internationally, and I am proud that there is also a national movement,” he said.
The president of the university has talked about recognizing the talent of our students, talked about sexual diversity and told us about the Reggio Classic football tournament taking place in Houston, Texas. It is for this reason that I would like to stress the importance of the work that the University is doing at the national and international level thanks to the efforts of the current administration of UANL.
University hospital care
Oscar Vidal Gutierrez, Director of the Faculty of Medicine and University Hospital, explained that the hospital plays a fundamental role in the health care of the entity, as it serves citizens who are in dire need of it and who do not have permanent medical service.
“University Hospital serves both the non-eligible population of the entity and IMSS and ISSSTE patients who are referred to this location. As the state has in recent years become a destination for immigrants, it has provided medical care to the thousands of foreign nationals who inhabit the Monterrey metropolitan area.”
We are also trying to decentralize this care, so that we can have first, second and third level hospitals all over the state of Nuevo León that are closer to the population.
