The sacking spree is here; will Ole survive?

That Manchester United is a train off track is not a secret anymore and there’s already speculation that the club’s manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is living on borrowed time. A number of clubs have already pulled the plug on their managers after a run of unimpressive results.

In the bottom five, four clubs have already sent managers packing and the only remaining man is Burnley’s Sean Dyche. Watford were the first when they parted ways with Xisco Munoz and soon Newcastle United followed suit, showing Steve Bruce the door.

This spree is not only for clubs in the lower reaches, Tottenham Hotspur started the sacking spree in November, relieving Nuno Santo Espirito of his duties after a slow start to the season. Two other managers quickly followed suit – Norwich’s Daniel Farke and Aston Villa’s Dean Smith, both managers who engineered promotion of their teams to the Premier League.

There are still managers whose futures are in doubt; Rafa Benitez at Everton is among them, and his situation isn’t made any easier by the fact that he was never a favored candidate from the fans’ perspective. After a fine start, matters have slowed down and he is under the spotlight.

However, one man who can’t avoid such headlines is Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, and the fact that he has come this far is really incomprehensible. Going to the November international break, the team has one win in six league matches, and that came against a very troubled Tottenham Hotspur. He’s lost to Aston Villa, Leicester, Liverpool and more recently Manchester City.

Their matches have been highlighted by poor defending, and in the last eight in the league, they have just one clean sheet, against a Spurs side that didn’t attempt a shot on target. Next up for the team after the break is an away game at Watford and in that too, they don’t command very strong odds on Bet365 as both teams scoring has odds of 1.70.

Nonetheless, registering with the bookmaker comes with some winnings either way as the site has an enticing bonus of up to £100 in form of bet credits through the Bet365 promo code of WINVIP1. This bonus is a preserve for new users and is activated upon the deposit of a minimum £5 and attracts a 100% match of the initial deposit.

While Ole Gunnar strives to keep his job, there are reports on unease among his senior players. It is indicated that a number of senior players in his team have expressed reservation that he can turn things around.

It is all about his tactics, as even though it looks good for them in the Champions League, they have struggled and on more than one occasion it has needed stoppage time goals from Cristiano Ronaldo to save the team.

Right after the international break, there will be really little time to catch a breath for Ole Gunnar. They have three straight away matches, all of them key, and Paul Pogba is suspended for the first, at Watford. After that they travel to Villarreal and then to Chelsea, then a home game against Arsenal. Will the former Manchester United star survive this? Only time will tell.
