The Ecuadorian government will evaluate whether to reduce or end power outages

The president explained that since November 7, this South American country has been receiving between 30 and 35 megawatts per day from Peru, and since last week, Colombia has sold 10,000 megawatt hours to the country, following an agreement with its counterpart, Gustavo Petro. .

He also noted that since November 4, the Termo Esmeraldas thermal power plant has supplied the interconnected national system with a capacity of 125 MWh.

Lasso confirmed that the Quito Electric Company has begun the bidding process for the contract for the emerging electrical energy with a capacity of 465 megawatts, and the offers will be received – he said – until November 11, and the award will be made, according to the schedule, on November 17.

He added that in addition to these measures, the hydrological conditions in the Coca Codo Sinclair, Mazar and Bauti factories have improved due to the onset of rain in the southern Sierra of the Andean country.

The CEO announced that in the coming days he will begin issuing a tender to import gas, which will contribute 100 megawatts to the energy system, and confirmed that they will issue enabling bonds for private generators, with an estimated capacity of 200 megawatts, with an increasing income.

On October 27, power outages began throughout the national territory due to drought, which prevents the operation of hydroelectric power plants at greater capacity, and analysts also point to a decrease in investments in the sector to avoid the current expected crisis.
