President-elect Lula confirms that Brazil is returning to the world

Yesterday I spoke with dozens of heads of state. They all want to expand alliances and work together with Brazil on trade, climate and major global issues. “We’re back in the world,” Lula wrote on Twitter.

In the first round of voting on October 2, the power candidate from the Labor Party won 48.43 percent of the valid votes, while far-right leader Jair Bolsonaro, who wanted to be re-elected by the Liberal Party, got 43.20 percent.

Since none of the politicians obtained an absolute majority of votes in that suit, i.e. more than half of the valid votes (excluding null and void votes), as specified in the legislation to be elected, they opposed the ballot.

In a very closed way, the working-class son won again in the second round on Sunday by 50.90 percent to the former army’s 49.10.

After his election, the former trade unionist received congratulations from several heads of state, such as Joe Biden (US), Emmanuel Macron (France), Gabriel Borek (Chile), Luis Alberto Lacal Pou (Uruguay), Andrés Manuel Lopez Obrador (Mexico) and Miguel Diaz-Canel (Cuba).

Likewise, he has been congratulated by rulers such as Justin Trudeau (Canada), Narendra Modi (India), Xi Jinping (China), Pedro Sánchez (Spain), Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa (Portugal), among others.

In addition to the congratulations, Lula received a signal that Norway will resume financial assistance against deforestation in the Amazon, which was frozen during the administration of Bolsonaro, who has remained silent after his voluntary failure.

The former captain of the army still did not recognize the result and did not contact, as is customary, the elected head of state.

Police associations confirmed, on Tuesday, that the silence of the former paratrooper about his defeat hinders the calm of the country and contributes to motivating truck drivers to blockade the country’s highways.

In a statement, the National Federation of Federal Road Police and the unions associated with this force defended the respect of the election result that gave Lula the victory.

They insist that Bolsonaro’s position, “in remaining silent and not recognizing the results of the ballot, ends up hindering the pacification of the country, and encourages part of his followers to adopt the measures of the blockade on Brazilian highways.”

According to a balance issued by the Federal Highway Police, there are hurricanes on 227 highways.
