Fernando Alonso: The Jeddah circuit looks very fast

Alpine team driver Fernando Alonso described the new Jeddah Corniche circuit in Saudi Arabia as “very fast” according to what was seen in the simulation they have been working on in recent days.

“It will be a new experience for everyone on the grid. From what I have seen and analyzed with the team, it will be a very fast course, although we will have to wait until we start rolling on it to check it out,” Alonso said in comments sent by his team.

“We have already entered new arenas this season and you have to prepare well and analyze every detail. We already have an idea of what to pay attention to, but a new place can bring many surprises. You never know what might happen.” The two-time world champion added.

Fellow Frenchman, Esteban Ocon, commented that he likes “this kind of crazy track, like Baku, for example. He takes everything to the extreme, and I think it’s going to be fun,” he said.

Alan Berman, Director of Alpine Sports, highlighted the race that takes place in the evening.

“Qualifying and racing will take place at night, under the lights, so this adds another dimension for the engineers, as it will be FP1 and FP3 during the day (albeit at the end of the day) and we will have very different temperatures. From session to session.”
