Emma Watson says filming ‘Harry Potter: Return to Hogwarts’ was an ‘unexpected pleasure’

Emma Watson said filming Harry Potter’s 20th Anniversary Return to Hogwarts was an “unexpected joy”.

Back at Hogwarts, Watson, who played Hermione Granger in the eight-movie series, will meet her co-stars Rupert Grint (Ron Weasley) Daniel Radcliffe (Harry Potter) and other members of the cast to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the first film. Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone.

In a new clip from the special, Watson said, “I honestly didn’t know how I was going to feel this morning. Then something happened that made me feel comfortable with the people I’ve known for so long, with the story we were sharing and that feeling. Once I started feeling really safe, I had fun With everything we did and made and felt like we could really celebrate and enjoy being together.”

He continued, “Some of us haven’t seen each other in years. It was a joy. An unexpected joy.”

Watson then admitted that she was “overwhelmed” before filming the special, adding, “I was very pleasantly surprised that I was able to bring it all back to life.”

Elsewhere in the clip, Radcliffe discusses his connection to nostalgia. “It was great seeing everyone and I didn’t know if that was the case, because I have a very mixed relationship with nostalgia. It’s such a wonderful feeling that it can be strangely painful at times.”

However, he added, “What scared me the most when we got out of it, was the hint that the most important thing in our lives was over. There’s something so fun about seeing everyone and expressing their likeness” It wasn’t like, “We’ve all moved on to doing other things for people. Wives, kids, souls, there’s something really cool about seeing that.”

Harry Potter: Back to premieres at Hogwarts 20th Anniversary on January 1, 2022 on HBO Max in the US and on Sky/NOW TV in the UK.

The eight film directors, such as Chris Columbus, Alfonso Cuarón, Mike Newell and David Yates, will appear alongside producer David Heyman.
