Pablo Guadarrama Gonzalez. The Latin American Philosopher was presented last night by his author, Carlos Rojas Osorio, at Sabio Caldas Auditorium, Francisco José de Caldas University, in Bogota.

“It is very important that they dedicated a book to me. It seems to me to be an acknowledgment not only of me as a person, but also of what we are as a product of the Cuban Revolution, of the conditions that allowed us to become what we are,” Guadarrama told Prensa Latina.

He added, therefore, “I think it is a book that is not only for me, it is for my people and that is the greatest satisfaction one can have.”

This work becomes a commitment to continue his educational, scientific, philosophical, and investigative work, emphasized by the author of such texts as humanism in Latin American thought; Latin American Philosophical Thought: Humanism vs. Alienation; Marxism and Anti-Marxism in Latin America, among others.

According to Carlos Rojas Osorio, his “passion for studying the philosophical and political thought of Latin America is not a chauvinistic idiosyncrasy, but rather the just claim that critical thought and emancipation are not the monopoly of any people or nation, not even the West”.

He stressed that “philosophy has a presence in Latin America and the Caribbean, as it has in India, China and the West.”

Rojas Osorio explained to Prensa Latina that he was inspired to write this book by Guadarrama’s devotion to Latin American philosophy.

He explained that he had been working directly on the creation of this book for two years, but before that he had reviewed several of his works such as What is Epistemology, The Universal and Distinctive in Culture, among others, and saw that he could complete this work.
