Xi Jinping officially welcomes the President of Brazil to China

Xi honored South America in the Great Hall of the People with honors corresponding to his grand inauguration ceremony, before moving on to the official talks.

The first moment of the meeting was open to the press and another part followed, but behind closed doors.

At the presidential meeting, the two leaders are expected to review the bilateral agenda and analyze a proposal made by Lula to form a club of mediators in the conflict between Russia and Ukraine.

At the end of their talks, the two parties will witness the signing of about twenty agreements between their two countries, covering various sectors.

Before meeting Xi, Lula spoke with Premier Li Qiang and parliamentary leader Zhao Lijie; and Chairman of the State Electric Power Corporation Zhang Zhigang.

He expressed Brazil’s readiness to strengthen the strategic bond, expand trade and investment flows, as well as unite efforts with the Asian giant to enhance balance in global geopolitics.

He also made contact with representatives of the All-China Federation of Trade Unions and paid tribute to the martyrs of this country by placing offerings in front of the Heroes’ Monument, located in the central Tiananmen Square.

The prominent Brazilian man arrived in Beijing last night from the municipality of Shanghai (east), where he held yesterday marathon meetings and tours in centers of economic interest.
