United States and Mexico | Bid to host the 2027 Women’s World Cup

The United States and Mexico, in a show of solidarity, submitted a joint nomination on Friday to host the conference Women's World Cup For the year 2027.

If successful, the initiative will allow the North American allies to host consecutive prestigious football events, with the 2026 Men's World Cup now imminent.

The joint bid faces stiff competition from Belgium, Germany and the Netherlands, which also submitted a combined bid for organizing rights on the same day.

Brazil is another contender, having submitted its proposal to FIFA the previous month.

Women's Football Federation

In a statement, the US Soccer Federation highlighted the great potential to bring the Women's World Cup to North America. The Federation drew attention to the current rise of women's sports, noting that hosting the tournament could achieve unprecedented success.

Cindy Barlow Cone, president of the US Soccer Federation, viewed the co-hosting of the 2026 Men's World Cup by the United States, Mexico and Canada as a benefit rather than a disadvantage.

The deadline for submitting nominations to FIFA ended on Friday. South Africa initially entered the race but withdrew last month in order to focus on a more precise bid to host the 2031 edition.

FIFA plans to conduct on-site review visits to the nominated countries for the 2027 Women's World Cup in February, with the final selection of hosts to be decided by the FIFA Congress in May.

Australia and New Zealand last hosted the Women's World Cup in 2023, with Spain qualifying for the tournament against England in the final.
