They provide details about the 2023 Venezuela International Book Fair

This new edition of the Book Festival will take place at the Laguito del Círculo Militar in Caracas, from 9 to 19 November, and will include a wide range of proposals, including professional conferences, forums, reading promotion meetings, academic activities and festivals, among others.

This year Velvin will pay tribute to playwright and journalist Armando Carías, and posthumously to Carmen Delia Bencomo and Domingo Alberto Rangel, both national centenary writers.

The works of the Vadel Publishing House in its half-century of existence and the National Library in its 190 years will also be honored, while the state of Amazonas, located in the south-central part of the country, will also be honoured.

In a press conference on Monday, Villegas noted that by decision of President Nicolas Maduro, two Palestinian writers were included among the well-wishers: the poet and storyteller recently killed in Gaza in Israeli attacks, Heba Abu Nada, and the novelist Adenya Shibli.

The latter was prevented from receiving a prize at the Frankfurt Book Fair in Germany, which had already been awarded.

Colombia will come to Velvin with a large cultural and editorial representation, headed by Culture Minister Juan David Correa, and they will carry their slogan “Praise for Hospitality.”

Among their proposals, the groups Tu Roccito, Kombilesa Mi and Numerao de Palabras (consisting of 15 children) will come to Caracas and give a binational concert with Colombian pianist Teresita Gomez and Venezuelan Guiomar Narváez.

The International Book Fair will be attended by 22 publishers from countries such as Argentina, Spain, Cuba, Mexico, Bolivia, Honduras, Iran, Peru and the guest country of honor.
