The UN Under-Secretary-General met with Haitian police officials

Miroslav discussed with the authority’s director, Franz Elbe, the security situation facing the country and the challenges in this field.

The UN official is making an official visit to the Caribbean country and held a meeting the previous day with Prime Minister Ariel Henry, in which he assessed the development of the situation in Haiti, which is awaiting the arrival of a multinational mission to support security. At the end of the meeting, the Deputy Undersecretary stressed that it is necessary to advance a comprehensive and credible political process.

In addition, Miroslav spoke with Foreign Minister, Victor Genius, in his office about supporting CARICOM envoys to facilitate dialogue between Haitians, as well as the situation on the border. He stressed that “the United Nations supports bilateral negotiated solutions.”
