London, December 29 (EFE). British Defense Secretary Ben Wallans said on Thursday that the British government will review whether to impose coronavirus restrictions on travelers from China.

The British minister indicated that the Ministry of Transport in this country will seek advice from medical experts and will deal with the matter with the Ministry of Health.

Several countries are already introducing mandatory coronavirus tests in response to the novel coronavirus outbreak in China.

“The (British) government is looking at it, it’s under review, and we’ve noted, obviously, what the US and India have done and I think Italy has done that as well. We continue to constantly review health threats, obviously, the UK, wherever they meet,” Wallace said.

The minister’s comments come after a London government spokesman said on Thursday that the country had no plans to conduct coronavirus tests on travelers from China.

The United States joined Italy, India, Taiwan, South Korea, Malaysia and Japan the day before announcing new measures after China reported a massive increase in virus cases after announcing an easing of the strong measures it had maintained.

To justify this step, the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention pointed to the rise in infections and the lack of sufficient and transparent information from China, including the genetic sequence of the strains. EFE
