“I will go to this summit of Latin American presidents to achieve an agenda to combat the climate crisis on our continent through an effective and concrete process of Latin American integration,” Pietro said on his Twitter account.

Also invited to the meeting to promote integration, peace and cooperation in the region were the Presidents of Argentina, Alberto Fernandez; Bolivia, Louis Ars; Shelley, Gabriel Borek; Ecuador, Guillermo Lasso; Guyana, Irfan Ali; Paraguay, Mario Abdo Benitez; Suriname, Chan Santokhi; Uruguay, Luis Lacalle Poe, and Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro.

The Colombian President will be accompanied by Foreign Minister Alvaro Leyva Duran. Chief of Staff of the Presidency of the Republic, Laura Sarabia. Deputy Secretary of State, Elizabeth Taylor Jay, and Colombian Ambassador to Brazil, Guillermo Rivera, among other officials.

During his stay in the Brazilian capital, Petro will hold bilateral meetings with many rulers, including Bolivia.

“This week I am receiving Presidents from South America in Brasilia, so that together we can discuss the future of our region. No country grows alone. We have to work with our neighbors to build alliances for the economic development of the region, to strengthen cultural ties and to defend democracy.”

Before the summit, Lula received Maduro, who called for building a new geopolitics whose main components would be “Union of South America and America” ​​in diversity.
