Sweden will send up to 120 trainers to the UK to train the Ukrainian army

Stockholm, August 7 (Sputnik). The Swedish government has stated that the Swedish Armed Forces are planning to send up to 120 trainers to the UK to train Ukrainian soldiers.

“From August 12 to December 31, 2022, the Swedish Armed Forces will send up to 120 instructors to the United Kingdom to conduct basic military training for Ukrainian citizens,” the statement said.

According to Stockholm, a maximum of 60 coaches from Sweden will be in the UK at the same time and “this is not expected to have a significant impact on other activities of the Swedish Armed Forces”.

“It is expected that approximately 10,000 Ukrainian citizens will participate in the training program in the United Kingdom,” the memo emphasized.

He notes that the initiative comes from London, which “invited other JEF partner countries and Canada to contribute.”

Founded in 2014 and led by the United Kingdom, JEF is a rapid response force that can be deployed anywhere in the world as a complement to NATO or other international security structures.

JEF currently includes, in addition to the United Kingdom, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Iceland, Latvia, Lithuania, Norway, the Netherlands and Sweden. (Sputnik)
