The head of government, Pedro Sanchez, has confirmed that the process of vaccination against Covid-19 in Spain is proceeding “at a faster rate than in the United Kingdom, France or the United States”.
In a message on Twitter, Sanchez insisted that “vaccinating, vaccinating and vaccinating” is the “only way” to “leave the epidemic and “recover”.
He wrote on his account with two: “In Spain we have always been clear about this. Thanks to our excellent health and professionals, we are vaccinating at a faster rate than the UK, France or the US. We continue!” Charts in which Spain is seen as ahead of those countries in terms of vaccine doses given per 100 people.
According to the graph added to the Spanish President’s tweet on Twitter, the proportion of Spaniards per 100 citizens who received at least one dose of the vaccine is 1.05, while in France the ratio was 0.9 in France. The UK is 0.75 and the US is 0.34. Data from Our World in Data.
In another graphic of this organization that does not appear in Sanchez’s tweet, it is noted that 60% of its population in the United Kingdom has already received at least one dose, while in the United States the proportion exceeds 50%. In the case of Spain, the overall percentage of people who received a dose is less than 50%, although it slightly exceeds France.
The Minister of Health, Carolina Darias, also highlighted in a video the vaccination rate, which is making “new records and new milestones” every day that is “unstoppable”. This Friday, 654,232 doses were administered across the country.
