La Jornada – UNAM organizes payments for 488 teachers and assistants

Mexico City. The National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) reported that it had already adjusted the wages and employment status of 488 teachers and aides who presented problems with their perceptions. In particular, the General Directorate of Personnel Affairs reviewed the status of pending cases from the College of Science and issued the corresponding checks.

As for other colleges and schools, where there were also some irregularities, he indicated that all movements corresponding to the current semester (2021-2) have been completed “as a result of the inevitable changes in the last minute in the programming of academic activities.”

Regarding cases in the College of Science, he explained that the delivery of checks began last week and will continue during this week and the following week. He added that care was taken to include the salary and benefits.

Regarding the other campus, he indicated that the relevant adjustments will be applied in the seventh or eighth weeks, that is, the next two weeks.

In this sense, the United Nations mission stressed that it had implemented all the administrative movements necessary to settle the delay in paying the salaries of some teachers and retired students in school subjects as soon as possible, “who unfortunately appeared in certain academic entities”, and that led to dozens of schools, students and teachers calling for Stop activities.

He also affirmed his commitment to fully covering the salaries of his teachers and urged the entire community to resume academic activities at the end of the Easter holidays, that is, on April 5.
