I declare that the referendums of the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics are in effect

Three days after voting, citizen participation in referendums in the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics exceeded 50 percent (%), making it valid, the electoral commissions reported.

The head of the Central Election Commission of the Republic Olena Kravchenko said that the turnout at the end of the three days of voting in the Lugansk People’s Republic amounted to 76.09%, so the referendum was ratified.

According to international standards, a referendum is considered valid if 50% plus one of the electorate voted.

“The turnout in the republic was 76.09%,” he said, noting that 21.97% of voters voted on Sunday.

A total of more than one million people voted in the republic on the third day, Kravchenko added, with Luhansk leading the way in terms of activity.

In the Donetsk People’s Republic, the referendum can also be considered valid, since more than 50% of the voters have already exercised their right.

In the three days of voting, turnout was 77.13%. There are 1203,855 people,” said Vladimir Vysotsky, head of the Central Regional Electoral Commission.

For her part, the director of the Zaporizhzhya Regional Central Election Commission, Galina Katyushenko, revealed that the turnout in the three days of the referendum was 51.55%.

In turn, Marina Zagarova, head of the Electoral Commission of the Kherson Region, reported that participation in the three days of voting amounted to 48.91% of the electoral register, that is, 750 thousand people in total.

According to the President of the Donetsk People’s Republic, Denis Pushlin, foreign observers did not find any violations on the third day of the referendum. He also noted that the initial results of the vote were better than expected.
