Ecatepec and the Embassy of the United Kingdom strengthen relations

Mayor of Ecatepec, Fernando Vilches Contreras and the UK Ambassador to Mexico, John Benjamina long meeting during which joint action plans in the fields of education, climate change, innovation and technology were developed.

The mayor explained that the meeting discussed progress in terms of General Security acquired at Ecatepec, modernizing the command center and installing 1,600 video cameras for the Jaguar project, as well as building planetary Municipality, which is located among the best observatories around the world.

They also visited the historic mansion where General José María Morelos y Pavon was shot.
Jon Benjamin announced that he will continue to talk with the Ecatepec authorities to implement programs such as Teaching EnglishEnvironmental science and environmental care procedures and the use of technology in public policies.

He expressed his interest in establishing cooperation between the British Embassy and the municipality. “I hope this is just the beginning of a new phase in the relationship between my country (the United Kingdom) and our embassy with this municipality, with the mayor, and we’ll be back quite frequently lately,” the diplomat said.

Felice Contreras remembers this while working administration Cooperation relations were established with diplomats from Israel, Colombia, Nicaragua and South Africa.

He announced that he expects to conclude a cooperation agreement with the British Embassy in the near future.

Prior to becoming an Ambassador, he was Director of the London Diplomatic Academy, and later UK Ambassador to Chile (2009-2014), and High Commissioner to Ghana (2014-2017) where he served as concurrent Ambassador to Togo, Benin and Burkina Faso. Likewise, he was also temporary consul and then consul general in New York (2005-2008).
