Camaguey, September 16 – 35 years after the signing of the Montreal Protocol, Camaguey celebrated the International Day for the Protection of the Ozone Layer with positive results in this mission.
In the core business unit of the food complex La glorieta, one of the most advanced in this endeavor, the regional delegation of the Ministry of Science, Technology and Environment presented the Diploma of Free Voluntary Advertising of HCFCs to entities committed to this endeavour until 2029.
In this sense, 17 Camaguey entities deserve recognition, among them Ignacio Agramonte Luinas International Airport, the Center for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology, Vitral Nuevitas and the Camaguey City Hotel Complex.
Jelena Estevez Armas, Ozone Layer Protection Project Coordinator, meant that for the event, the Valentín Cayo Cruz and gastronomical complexes Coppelia and El Parque deserved the National Award for Free Ozone Depleting Substances.
Among the most important findings, the specialist highlighted the operation of the Good Practices Classroom at the Instituto Manuel Cañete Ramos Industrial Polytechnic, which aims to train intermediate technicians and qualified workers in air conditioning and refrigeration equipment, as well as self-employed workers in the province and Ciego de vila.
He emphasized that, as part of the Camaguey project, it stands out among the four areas selected for the assembly of the hydrocarbon plant with the aim of achieving greater awareness on environmental protection. (Text and photos: Yadira Nuñez Figueredo / Radio Cadena Agramonte)
