United States coach Greg Berhalter has analyzed the expectations for the first match of the eight game that the North American team will start by visiting the Cuscatlan stadium to face its counterpart El Salvador.
For Berhalter, the team led by Hugo Pérez has a very interesting game, especially considering Azul’s role in the last Gold Cup, and in conclusion, for the USA coach, the match on September 2 in Cuscatlan will be “difficult”.
“We were looking at all of their matches. I think they have made a lot of progress under Hugo Perez, they are a team with great spirit and it will be a tough match.Berhalter said in a press conference with the media after announcing his call up for the first three matches.
Berhalter added that he personally “loves the El Salvador team”. Above all, the character that the Central American team showed in major Gold Cup matches such as Qatar and Mexico stood out.
“I love El Salvador, I love his team. I like what he was doing. He showed so much character against Qatar that he almost came back from that 3-0 score, and against Mexico in the second half he made it very difficult for Mexico. I think for us there are things to learn from all the Gold Cup matches.Berhalter finished.
