Adequate implementation of decarbonization will benefit Costa Rica

The progress report on the implementation of the National Decarbonization Plan shows that this initiative follows the roadmap to achieve net zero emissions by 2050, betting on a development model based on bio-economy, green growth, improving the quality of life of citizenship and social inclusion.

Presented Thursday at the Costa Rican Art Museum in the capital, marking the third anniversary of the decarbonization plan, the report highlights that Costa Rica will achieve 83 percent of the Phase 1 targets (foundations) for that instrument. general.

As of last February, the country had completed 61 percent of the first phase goals 2018-2022, the report notes, which highlights progress in key sectors due to their high emissions, such as transportation and agriculture.

This indicates that thanks to the installation of a nationwide network of 43 electric vehicle chargers and the inclusion of 1,652 livestock farms under the Nationally Appropriate Mitigation Action (NAMA) programme.
