A common demand in France that Macron withdraw the immigration law

“Mr. President, on the occasion of your television intervention, we solemnly demand that you make the only valid decision: you must abandon the law that represents an assault on the values of our republic, and that in addition to breaking your majority will disintegrate in the country,” they stated in the text.

According to the initiative’s promoters, the standard that was approved yesterday after a consensus between the ruling party and the conservatives is the most reactionary in decades, because it enshrines nationalism and casts doubt on the basic rights included in the constitution.

The law is a moral catastrophe and a betrayal of our history, as well as a capitulation to the far right, which could legitimately provoke an ideological triumph, highlighted by, among others, the Human Rights League, the racist SOS, Friends of the Earth and Attack. Anvita and the right to housing.

The request was also signed by unions such as the General Confederation of Labor and the United Trade Union Confederation, the main leftist parties, rebels, socialists, communists, and environmental activists.

They stressed in their call that they will not give up the struggle and will resist arbitrary and inhumane decisions.

For his part, Macron defended on television the rule, which he saw as a concession to the anti-immigrant positions of the right and the far right, with controversial restrictions that hinder family reunification, reinstate the crime of irregular residence, and limit the settlement of workers “without papers.”

According to the president, the law is “the shield that the country was missing” and seeks to achieve two goals: combating illegal immigration and better integrating foreigners through language learning and work.
