Vietnam intends to accelerate the disbursement of official development aid

Le Quang stressed that this is an important source of resources to promote social, economic and infrastructure development, and also pointed out the legal obstacles and differences in policies, processes and procedures between Vietnam and the sponsors.

Speaking during a meeting of the National Steering Committee for Official Development Assistance, the senior official called for coordinated efforts by both parties to coordinate actions, in order to reduce the time for preparing and implementing projects.

At the same time, representatives of the sponsors of the draft resolution highlighted the transparency of Vietnamese regulations on official development assistance and the Indochina country's effective coordination of the disbursement of preferential loans.

They also agreed on the need to harmonize sponsor regulations with national laws for official development assistance programmes, in order to shorten the time for preparing the aforementioned plans.

While they endorsed the commitment to continue providing financial resources for official development assistance to Vietnam, as well as to support the Government in issuing regulations on the management and use of capital, they recommended continuing to reduce administrative procedures in this regard.

The meeting of the National Steering Committee on ODA was attended by, among others, delegates from the World Bank, the Asian Development Bank, the Japan International Cooperation Agency, the Export-Import Bank of South Korea, the French Development Agency and the German Bank. Development and Development Bank.

According to the Vietnamese Ministry of Planning and Investment, the total capital of official development assistance and preferential loans subscribed by the country for the period 2021-2023 amounted to about $3.35 billion.
