The British government reported on Saturday that the United Kingdom is imposing an entry visa for countries that refuse to accept the return of migrants deported from London.
This will happen after the Nationalities and Boundaries Act reforms being processed in Parliament to grant new powers to the Home Secretary, Priti Bhatt.
The measure will apply to all applications for permits to enter the country, including study, work, tourism or residence categories.
“The UK has always been open to the world, but we hope our international partners will work with us to deport those who do not have the right to remain in our country, such as dangerous criminals,” Patel said.
The proposal seeks to tighten the UK’s asylum policy after its exit from the European Union last year, as well as consider implementing longer and more costly procedures for not being refused a visa.
The reform would allow the executive to deny visa service and charge an additional fee of £190, about $260, for each application or delay processing time, Prensa Latina reports.
In addition, with the new proposal, migrants imprisoned for crimes committed in the UK would be able to be deported for up to one year before completing their sentence, instead of the nine months currently stipulated. EL/JML
