Investing.com – The UK Stock Exchange closed higher on Thursday; Sector gains, indexes lead higher.

At the close in London, it was up 0.76%, reaching a new high of 52 weeks.

Among the leading stocks today in the session was GlaxoSmithKline PLC (LON :), whose value rose 4.56%, or 58.80 points, and traded at 1,348.40 at the close. It is followed by Mondi PLC (LON :), which advanced 3.74%, 70.00 points, to close at 1942.50, and Antofagasta PLC (LON :), which rose 3.36% or 60.50 points, ended the session at 1,863.00.

To the tail of the pointer is over Legal and public affairs Group PLC share (LON) fell 5.02%, or 14.60 points, to close at 276.10. Meanwhile, Carnival PLC (LON 🙂 fell 3.43%, 59.4 points, and closed at 1,670.2, while Bank VTB PAO DRC (LON 🙂 lost 2.69%, 0.032 points, to 1,158.

The dollar index rose 0.02% to 91.690.
