LONDON (Sputnik) – British Defense Chief Admiral Tony Radakin has announced London’s plans to develop hypersonic missiles in order to compete with Russia’s growing power.

“We don’t have them [los misiles hipersónicos]”But we have to have it,” Radakin said in an interview with The Times.

According to the media, the goal of the corresponding plans is “to compete with the growing Russian military power.”

Radakin also commented on the situation around Ukraine, which, in his opinion, “is very worrying.” According to the Times, the commander of the British army presented the cabinet with military measures in the event of a new escalation in the region, although he did not detail what it consisted of.

Several Western countries have denounced that Russia is amassing its forces on its border with Ukraine as a possible preparation for an invasion.

In turn, Russia has rejected these accusations on more than one occasion, claiming that it is moving its forces within its territory, which does not threaten anyone. According to Moscow, the West is using these accusations as an excuse to deploy more NATO military equipment near Russia’s borders.
