UASLP invites to pursue Ph.D. in Agricultural Sciences

SAN LUIS POTOSÍ, SLP. , December 7, 2021. – The Faculty of Agricultural Engineering and Veterinary Medicine of the Autonomous University of San Luis Potosi (UASLP) invites those interested in pursuing a PhD in Agricultural Sciences, who have received training in fields such as: Biology, Agronomy, Plant Breeding and other related subjects. So far, the graduate program has graduated 16 generations and has an annual income.

It was created in 2014 and has a duration of 8 semesters in which electives are taken according to the student’s needs

Within the program there are three research axes: vegetable production systems, ruminant production system, and productive diversification, which are supported by a common core academic nucleus with the Research Institute in the Desert Regions, of which 80% are researchers. It belongs to the National Scholars System of the National Council for Science and Technology (Conacyt).

The PhD received Conacyt accreditation in 2020, which is why it is incorporated into the National Postgraduate Quality Registry (PNPC), which allows students to receive a maintenance grant for their studies. Its goal is for professionals to be able to generate scientific knowledge and apply it to meet the agricultural needs of the entity and the state.

The Ph.D. in Agricultural Sciences has various cooperation agreements with foreign institutions, as well as at the national and state levels, which have allowed some students to undertake mobility. For example, some have recently gone on to do residency research at Ohio University, with which there is an agreement that allows for this kind of academic contact. In addition, there is cooperation with the Graduate School, Ipicyt, among other entities.

Students who have resided out of the country have done very well as on their return they have different possibilities for employment and realize that the UASLP Postgraduate programs are of a good standard to generate job competition, since some are dedicated to research and also dedicated to the advice of farmers in this field.
