German Chiaraviglio, who reached the final at the 2016 Olympic Games and in the 2015 World Pole Vault in Beijing 2015, will compete tomorrow in Los Angeles, USA, as part of his quest to qualify for the Tokyo Games.
Chiarvilio, who last Sunday won the 5.55m in Argentina’s 101st championship, in Concepcion del Uruguay, (14 of his adult career) will compete in Assouza, Los Angeles, and on Saturday April 24th in Chula Vista, California.
34-year-old athlete from Santa Fe, who competed in the 2007 World Senior Championships in Osaka, Japan (mark 5.55); Beijing, China, 2015, (5.65), won the Argentine Seniors Championship 14 times, trailing behind Juan Ignacio Serra, first title winner in the same test (hammer throw) with a score of 16.
Chiaraviglio, eleventh in the 2016 Olympic Games and ninth at the 2015 World Cup, was South American outdoor champion in Tonga (Colombia) 2006 with 5.40; Lima (Peru) 2015 – 5.70, and Asunción (Paraguay) 2017 – 5.60.
Likewise, Santa is consecrated in the Ibero-American Champion in Ponce, Puerto Rico (2005); Barquisimeto, Venezuela, 2012, Sao Paulo 2014 and Rio de Janeiro, 2016.
According to World Athletics – the body that governs global athletics – Chiraviglio, with 1,235 points, is 28th out of 32 Pole Vaulters who rank the Olympics.
Chiaraviglio has his career record of 5.75 meters which he won the silver medal at the Pan American Games in Toronto, Canada, in 2015.
