On March 22, gunmen entered Crocus City Hall, a large concert hall near Moscow, before opening fire on the crowd and setting the building on fire.

According to the latest count by Russian rescuers, at least 144 people were killed and 551 others were injured in the attack claimed by the Islamic State jihadist group, the deadliest attack in Russia in the last 20 years.

After the tragedy, the Russian president waited until the next day to speak publicly, and the Kremlin indicated Thursday that it did not immediately plan to meet with the families of the victims, nor to go to the site of the attack.

RIA Novosti reported that Western diplomats, especially American and European diplomats, in addition to African and Latin American countries, went to the site on Saturday to lay flowers and observe a minute of silence.
