The former Lebanese president demanded that whoever destroyed Syria must build it

The general stressed, during a popular rally in Jezzine, that most European countries do not want to return the displaced Syrians to their lands.

In this sense, the former president stressed that the process of integrating the Syrians into the Lebanese is a dangerous matter, in light of the deteriorating economic conditions.

He indicated that during his tenure, 500,000 Syrians returned to neighboring countries under agreements with the Damascus government.

In the same law, the head of the Free Patriotic Movement, Gebran Bassil, called for benefiting from the Saudi-Iranian-Syrian understanding to ensure a dignified and safe return for the displaced.

In this regard, he stressed the necessity of rebuilding both countries without creating a new conflict between the Lebanese and the Syrians, as a result of serving the project of division and racism.

On the subject, the head of social affairs in the interim government, Hector Hajjar, confirmed that the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (Aknor) promised to hand over the data of the displaced Syrians to the Lebanese state within a maximum period. tow days.

In a cabinet meeting this week, the minister indicated that 37,000 Syrians entered his country during the Eid al-Fitr period (the celebration of the end of Ramadan) and then returned to Lebanon after the holidays, which deprived them of the status of displaced persons.

In this way, the authority indicated that the status of a displaced person will be revoked when leaving the homeland, and as a measure the security services will prevent illegal entry into Lebanese territory.

According to data from the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, approximately 1.5 million Syrians live on Lebanese territory, of whom about 900 thousand are registered and most of them face difficulties in paying the costs of electricity, water, education, health and food.

The same entity reflected that nine out of 10 refugees from Syria live in extreme poverty in different host communities in Lebanon.
