Russian FM attends East Asia Summit in Cambodia

The Ukrainian embassy in Vietnam confirmed yesterday to the Khmer Times newspaper that the plan was canceled due to the lack of consensus among the ten member states of the bloc, “although the Cambodian presidency favors this initiative,” according to the detailed publication.

In a recent phone conversation with the current president of ASEAN, Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen, Zelensky himself asked to make a video statement during the summit, in the midst of the armed conflict with Russia.

In any case, the host foreign minister, Barak Sakhnum, is expected to lead the signing of the instruments of accession of Spain and Ukraine to the Treaty of Amity and Cooperation in Southeast Asia.

So far, the participation in the 40th and 41st ASEAN Summits and other related events has been confirmed by the Prime Ministers of Vietnam, Pham Minh Chin, and China, Li Keqiang, who are already here on an official visit.
