Putin will participate in the meeting of the Asia-Pacific Cooperation Forum – Prinsa Latina

The meeting was convened at the invitation of New Zealand, the current chair of the group, with the aim of analyzing and finding common solutions to the economic and global health challenges caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Established in 1989, the APEC Forum is an intergovernmental dialogue mechanism that does not have the status of an international organization. It comprises 21 of the largest economies in the two regions, including the economies of China, the United States, Russia and Japan.

Moscow joined this platform at the Kuala Lumpur Summit in November 1998, and its main efforts are focused on creating a favorable institutional environment for national economic operators and stimulating cooperation with countries in the region, especially Siberia and the Far East.

The Russian initiative for economic recovery and integration of its remote regions has already become a long-term vector of the activities of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation Organization, and has been adopted through other regional formats.

In the context of the tasks associated with overcoming the epidemic and its social and economic consequences, the Federation encouraged the promotion of Russian vaccines and other developments in the country in the fight against the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus.

Last year, Putin participated in the online forum summit hosted by Malaysia; Also in the version made in 2017 in Vietnam; He chaired 2012, which was held in the city of Vladivostok.

During the November 2020 meeting, representatives of the APEC member countries adopted the Putrajaya Guidelines for the development of the Forum, a new program that replaced the Bogor Goals, announced in 1994, which were deemed to have been met.

The new business plan provides for an open, resilient and peaceful society by 2040, in which a free, fair, non-discriminatory, transparent and predictable trading and investment environment can be ensured.

To achieve this, the program proposes strengthening regional connectivity, introducing innovations, reducing digital divides, promoting comprehensive human resource development, and exceeding climate and environmental goals.
