Mercosur foreign ministers prepare for leaders’ meeting in Paraguay

The meeting of foreign ministers comes in the context of several events in this capital that will serve as a prelude to the summit of heads of state and associated countries, which will conclude with the transfer of the interim president from Paraguay to Uruguay.

According to the agenda, it should last three hours and end with the approval of joint statements of the leaders, special declarations and other documents of importance for the regional bloc.

Also on Sunday, agreements on the development of various sectors will be signed at the request of Mercosur.

Throughout this week, Paraguay hosted various meetings as part of its farewell to the interim presidency, and in this context, Mercosur and the United Arab Emirates made significant progress in negotiations for the final signing of an agreement that would expand trade in both directions.

The VIP summit, scheduled for Monday, will highlight Bolivia’s presence, after its full integration was approved last Thursday, a move that the Paraguayan government sees as the beginning of new horizons and opportunities for trade, investment, economic growth and prosperity in the region.
