A study signed by the Mastercard Institute of Economics produces a ranking led by the United Kingdom and Spain, as the most popular countries.

Flight and leisure bookings have already exceeded pre-pandemic levels, according to a new study signed by the Mastercard Institute of Economics.

Specifically, the study Travel 2022: Trends and Transformations Provides an overview of the current state of travel in 37 markets based on a comprehensive analysis of public and anonymized aggregate sales data recorded on the Mastercard network.

At the end of last April, bookings for leisure trips exceeded 2019 levels by 25%, which highlights that bookings for short and medium-term leisure trips grew by 25% and 27%, respectively.

When it comes to bookings for business trips, they also exceeded pre-pandemic levels for the first time in March 2022.

This study highlights that recent spending levels indicate a growth in group travel.

As for cruise spending, it grew 62 percentage points from January to the end of April, though still below 2019 levels.
