John Ryder is one of Canelo Alvarez’s options to fight in the UK

After beating Daniel Jacobs, John Ryder could get into more important fights.

If Canelo Alvarez has the desire to fight in England, John Ryder is the perfect opponent as revealed by businessman Eddie Hearn, who was in the ring when Ryder defeated Daniel Jacobs by separate decision Saturday night.

A victim of tough scorecards in the past, Ryder was the beneficiary of what appeared to be a generous ruling, as his late recovery was enough to beat the two-time world champion.

Now with Canelo as the current opponent to beat £168, Hearn believes the Mexican icon’s visit to the UK could make him share a ring with Ryder in the future.

“It’s clear that Saul wants to fight in the UK,” Hearn told DAZN after fighting Ryder Jacobs.

“His plans have been planned and pretty much done for this year, but I think if he wants to fight in the UK he has the perfect opponent.”

“I don’t see any other middleweight from his country achieve such great victories. John Ryder beat Daniel Jacobs tonight. You know, it was his wear that got him into that fight, his desire to win that fight.”

“He was at the end of a lot of bad decisions. Tonight was a very close fight, it could have gone either way, but it was one that went his way.”
