Islamic association selects a woman as its first-time leader – Telam

For the first time in their history, members of the UK’s most famous Muslim society elected a woman as their general secretary.

This is Zara Mohammed, 29, who was elected by a majority of the UK Muslim Council members following the vote this week.

“It is a great honor and I hope it inspires more women and young people to take leadership roles,” the Muslim leader said in a statement after his election as the first woman to the position of Secretary-General. They understand the future of this organization and our society. Her choice.

Previously, she was Deputy Secretary General of the Muslim Council of the United Kingdom.

The Muslim Council of the United Kingdom is the largest and most diverse body and grouping of mosques, Islamic schools and Islamic societies in the country.

Members elect a Secretary General and a National Assembly every two years.

Muslim Mayor of London Sadiq Khan celebrated Muhammad’s appointment.

“I wish Zara Muhammad every success: that she continues to lead this organization towards great goals to improve our societies across the country,” he said on his Twitter profile.
