A tie-up with Taiwan's HTC to sell camera-equipped smart glasses stateside sent Innovative Eyewear's stock rocketing in Monday trade.
Innovative Eyewear (LSE: LUCY) shares soared 60% into the US close on Monday after the eyewear group unveiled a strategic alliance with Taiwanese electronics giant HTC to bring the VIVE Eagle range of smart glasses to American consumers.
The rally followed news that Innovative will begin selling the VIVE Eagle line through its Lucyd.co web store from September 2026, marking the first time the company has offered a pair of smart glasses it did not design and manufacture itself.

The deal hands Innovative a foothold in the rapidly expanding market for AI-powered camera glasses, a category its own product range does not currently cover. The VIVE Eagle pairs with HTC's VIVE Connect app, offering AI conversation recording, live translation, hands-free voice controls and camera functions, alongside privacy safeguards that disable recording when the glasses are removed or the indicator light is obscured.
HTC, founded in 1997 and listed on the Taiwan Stock Exchange, is best known for its smartphones and VIVE virtual reality ecosystem, giving the tie-up added credibility with US buyers. Innovative said the VIVE Eagle would come with its US-based prescription lens fulfilment, including a free basic prescription upgrade for customers ordering through Lucyd.co at launch.
Chief executive Harrison Gross said the company held 'a great deal of respect' for HTC's role in the mobile computing revolution and that the VIVE Eagle would be 'more capable, comfortable and user-friendly' than rival camera glasses. Investors will now watch for early sales traction once the product launches in September, as the company looks to broaden its offering beyond in-house designed frames for the first time.
