Healthy spring

By: Leticia Trejo.

“The day opens its eyes and brings in the expected spring. Everything my hand touches flies. The world is full of birds.”
Octavio Paz

Although spring has not officially arrived yet, we can already feel the power of the sun from the early hours of the morning. In literature, spring represents youth, the sun is more intense, there is light longer, and this improves people's mood.

In academic descriptions, it is said that melting begins in places where snow falls, plants flourish, animals hibernate again, and there are species that return from their migration. This season of the year has many charms: the colors of flowers, the different types of beautiful birds, butterflies, warmth, and love.

But to move away from the romantic meaning of spring, we must remember that it has many health benefits but also carries some risks that we must be aware of:

Precautions for sunbathing:

The best times to sunbathe are before 12:00 pm and after 6:00 pm. Avoid mediocre timelines.
Avoid prolonged exposure to the sun, only 10 to 20 minutes each time you do it is recommended.
Do not expose your entire body to the sun, for example: your head should not receive direct sunlight.

Learn about the latest developments in sunscreen products, as some of them can cause allergic effects on your skin.
If you have sensitive skin, seek advice directly from a dermatologist.

Take enough water taking into account your weight, height and the type of physical activity you do.
Children between 0 and 12 years old have not yet acquired strong and resistant skin, take care of them from the sun.

Good news about sunbathing:

Recommended for people suffering from joint and muscle pain, arthritis, fibromyalgia, etc.
It is also ideal for people who suffer from mental conditions such as sadness, pain, and depression for prolonged periods.
The sun activates vitamin D, which is important for hormonal and emotional balance.

When there are clouds, UV rays reduce their strength by 83%, so you can stay in the sunlight longer.
Relieves the immune system from its constant stress.

Embrace this beautiful season of the year, go for a walk, enjoy its benefits and if you want, tell us on social media: What does spring mean to you?
