Cuba aspires to increase tourism growth by 2030

HAVANA, Jan. 17 (ACN) By 2030, Cuba aspires to increase its hotel capacity to 95,000 rooms and exceed six million visitors, it said today. Juan Carlos Garcia GrandeCuban Tourism Minister.

During a meeting with Spanish businessmen, in preparation for the International Tourism Fair (FITUR) in Madrid, scheduled for January 19-23, García Granda presented business opportunities in Cuban territory and promoted foreign investment projects on the island.

“Today there is a meeting with Spanish businessmen to present new business opportunities in Cuba and to promote foreign investment projects on the island,” he wrote on Twitter.

According to the Cuba.cu portal, the minister exchanged with representatives of various companies in the sector in Spain, detailed ideas for increasing the real estate field associated with golf courses and marinas.

The head of the Cuban Tourism Ministry mentioned other projects in Artemisa, Pinar del Rio, Holguín, Varadero, Matanzas and Havana.

Regarding the upcoming celebration of Vitor 2022, the Cuban Minister held a meeting with Zurab Pololikashvili, Secretary-General of the World Tourism Organization, who informed him of plans to revitalize the tourism sector in Cuba.

He stressed that the tight economic, commercial and financial embargo on the United States, which intensified during the administration of Donald Trump, impeded the development of tourism in Cuba, in addition to the problems caused by the current pandemic.

Pololikashvili, via his Twitter account, highlighted the meeting with García Granda and expressed his conviction that Cuba’s participation in FITUR 2022 will be a success.

“Within FITUR_madrid, I meet with Cuban Minister of TourismJuannCarlosGG. After being informed of plans to revitalize tourism in this first-class destination, I am convinced that Cuba’s participation in #FITUR2022 will be a success”, the tweet indicates.

According to the organizers, the 42nd edition of Fitur will gather around 90,000 people, representing nearly 7,000 companies and 107 countries, at the Ifema site in the Spanish capital.
