Colombian footballers continue to play a crucial role in securing titles for their teams in various leagues around the world, as happened last week in soccer in the United States and Argentina.

On North American soil, Christian Arango, Jesus David Murillo and Eddie Segura were crowned MLS champions with Los Angeles FC after defeating Philadelphia in the penalty shootout series.

Arango and Murillo were key players and champions with the Los Angeles club, who, after a 3-3 draw with Philadelphia Union, later won 4-2 on penalties.

The game was very emotional. The 90 minutes ended with a score of 2-2 and in overtime both teams scored a goal, making the definition from 12 steps.

Arango, who had a difficult year due to his mother’s health problems, was one of the happiest victors.

“This is a dream I’ve always dreamed of, to celebrate the title with this club,” said the man from Antioquia, who has been highlighted as one of the key cards of LA’s good campaign.

He won the race, from Carbonero

Racing, owned by Colombian Johan Carbonero, won the Argentine Football Champions Cup, Sunday, by beating Boca Juniors 2-1 in extra time, after drawing one in 90 minutes, in a final at Villa Mercedes, in San Luis, which ended in a scandal.

In a tense match that lasted 120 minutes, Racing was happy to celebrate weeks after losing the title at the last date of the 2022 tournament at the hands of ‘Zenizes’.

Boca finished with six players on the field after suffering 5 sending offs, so the match ended in a Racing victory due to the numerical inferiority of their opponent.

“xeneize” automatically qualified to play this national cup by winning the League Cup and League Cup, the two championships of the season, while Racing agreed after beating Tigre (3-2) in a runner-up duel.

Boca advanced with a left-footed cross shot from Norberto Briasco in the 18th minute, after a pass from Colombian Frank Fabra, but four minutes later the Academy equalized with a shot from Matias Rojas.

The definition moved to extra time, as Racing looked for more against the outnumbered Boca, and in the 118th minute Carlos Alcaraz headed a cross from Beauvi and unleashed the white celebration.

Under a procedure with several contacts, which was contributed by the poor refereeing of Facundo Tello, Boca ended up with six players on the field of play due to the sending off of Sebastian Villa (90 + 4), Alan Varela (99), Luis Advincula (120 + 4), Fabra (120 + 7) and Dario Benedetto (120 + 9).

Tello also sacked Peruvian Carlos Zambrano (120+5), who was on the bench after being substituted, substitute Diego Gonzalez (120+5), and coach Hugo Ibarra, all along with Boca.

For the race, they watched the red card Carbonero (90+4), Carlos Alcaraz (120+3) and substitute Jonathan Galvan (120+5) for participating in a riot.
