On February 6, a group of UK-based graduates of the Faculty of Finance, Government and International Relations (FIGRI) held a special meeting in London that they had been planning for some time and were finally able to hold.
It all started with the creation of a group on the social network LinkedIn, where they gradually got to know each other to organize what would be “The first meeting of FIGRI alumni residing in the UK”.
The meeting was held at MORENA, a restaurant founded by two Colombian sisters in London, and was attended by about 20 graduates, including Martin Diaz silverGraduated from the first batch in Finance and International Relations.
In addition to Martin, alumni from 2001 to 2021 attended, allowing several generations of FIGRI to come together to enjoy a fun moment together.
Jose Ricardo BoyanaOne of the organizers told us that among the participants are people who graduated in finance and government, and are currently working in different industries. Some of them cooperate with the British government, as part of the Foreign Office and the UK Department of Housing. Likewise, there were graduates working in the financial sector and investment banking, as well as in areas such as renewable energy, sustainability and strategic consulting. The presence of professionals from such diverse sectors confirms the success of FIGRI graduates on the international stage.
This meeting provided an excellent opportunity to get to know each other, discover similarities, and enhance cooperation among colleagues.
After enjoying an enjoyable meeting, it was agreed to hold meetings every six months and further expand the network, bearing in mind that there are around 100 graduates of the program living in the UK. The main aim of these meetings is to further strengthen the alumni pool and put the skills, talents and experience of UK-based FIGRI alumni at the service of the University.
This valuable practice is something we hope to see replicated in other countries.
