Portfolio firm Guident turns a pilot project into a long-term contract with a US waste operator, lifting sentiment towards its parent.
Tekcapital (AIM: TEK) shares ticked up 2% after portfolio company Guident announced a 36-month agreement with Florida-based Coastal Waste & Recycling, extending an existing relationship into a full commercial rollout of autonomous inspection robots and AI monitoring software across the operator's US sites.
The move reflects investor appreciation for Guident's shift from proof-of-concept trials to multi-year revenue-generating contracts, with Tekcapital management framing the deal as evidence that its robotics investment is gaining traction with larger, longer-term commercial partners.

Under the expanded agreement, Coastal — which operates more than 40 sites across Florida, Georgia and South Carolina — will deploy Guident's WatchBot autonomous inspection robots alongside its AI software platform and ongoing operational support. The system is designed to handle thermal inspections, early fire detection on loaded trucks, asset damage identification, PPE compliance checks and tank cage monitoring, with the robots conducting facility patrols while the software manages alerting and centralised workflows.
Chad Abell, Coastal's vice president of EHS & engineering, said the three-year commitment reflected the company's long-term focus on protecting staff and assets, while Guident executive chairman and chief executive Harald Braun described the combination of robotics, AI and support services as a turn-key safety solution. Tekcapital executive chairman Dr Clifford Gross said the contract underlined Guident's transition from pilot work to recurring commercial agreements across mobility, robotics and public transport markets.
Guident raised US$2 million in May 2026 and is continuing to work towards a public listing later this year, a step Tekcapital believes could crystallise balance sheet value and widen the investor base in its holding. Separately, fellow portfolio company Innovative Eyewear (NASDAQ: LUCY; LUCYW) unveiled a batch of new AI features for its Lucyd app, including a Newscast widget and integration with Google's Gemini, though no financial terms were disclosed for that update.
