Investing.com – British stocks closed lower on Thursday; Declines in the sectors led to lower indices.
At the close in London, it was down 0.40%.
Best value for a session in Cannes Wisdom medicines PLC (LON: 0.96%, or 15.00 points), rose to 1.00 at the close. It was followed by BT Group PLC (LON:) which added 0.75%, or 0.85 points, to close at 114.35, and then compass set PLC (LON:) which rose 0.70%, or 13.50 points, to end the session at 1.00.
At the bottom of the index was the Carnival PLC (LON 🙂 index, which fell 6.51%, or 39.80 points, to close at 571.20. Ocado Group For its part, PLC (LON:) shares fell 3.44%, or 22.40 points, and closed at 629.20 while. United Utilities Group PLC (LON:) lost 2.73%, or 27.80 points, to close at 990.20.
The Reds beat the Greens on the London Stock Exchange by a margin of 1,051 to 699, with a close of 509 flat.
Gold futures for February delivery fell 1.50%, or 27.45, to $1.00 an ounce. Elsewhere in commodities, crude oil for February delivery fell 1.12%, or 0.88%, to settle at $77.41 a barrel, while Brent crude for February delivery fell 1.39%, or 1.14%, to $81.06 a barrel.
The GBP/USD dropped 0.48% to 1.20, while the EUR/GBP remained unchanged, down 0.34% to 0.88.
The dollar index rose 0.33%, to 104.19.
