United Kingdom: Egyptian Minister of Transport visits Felixstowe Port

Egyptian Minister of Transport Lieutenant General Kamel Al-Wazir. visited Port of Felixstowe for Hutchison Ports, Accompanied by Ambassador Sharif Kamel and a ministerial delegation.

During his presentation, the Foreign Secretary was given a demonstration of the latest remote-controlled yard cranes and the first two robotic tractor units in operation at the UK’s largest container port.

Commenting on the visit, Clemens Cheng, CEO, Felixstowe and Hutchison Ports, He said, “We are deeply honored to welcome the Minister to the Port of Felixstowe and to show him some of the advanced projects we have at the port. We look forward to working with him and the Egyptian government to deepen our relationship further and develop the new terminals in Sokhna and Dekheila.”

Hutchison Ports operates Alexandria International Container Terminal (AICT) in Egypt for nearly 20 years. It recently announced the expansion of cooperation with the Egyptian government by signing two agreements to grant two new concessions to operate container terminals in Egypt Ain Sokhna port and Dekheila port.
