Investing.com – British shares rose at the close on Friday; Gains in sectors, pushed indexes higher.

At the close in London, the index was up 0.01%.

Best value for session in Kant okado group PLC (LON :), up 5.10%, 38.40 points, to settle at 791.60 at the close. It was followed by Flutter Entertainment PLC (LON :), which rose 3.14%, 252.00 points to close at 8.00, and then BHP Group PLC (LON :), which rose 2.81%, 59.00 points, until it ended the session at 2.00.

At the bottom of the index was Mondi PLC (LON :), which fell by 5.41%, or 81.00 points, to close at 1.00. On the other hand, DS Smith PLC (LON:): cut 5.16% and 14.70 points and closed at 270.00 while Waseet Capital Group PLC (LON 🙂 lost 3.16% or 46.50 points to close at 1.00.

The green numbers outperformed the red numbers on the London Stock Exchange by 1,089 to 682, with 489 closing flat.

Shares of DS Smith PLC (LON 🙂 slumped to a 52-week low, dropping 5.16% to 14.70 to settle at 270.00.

Gold futures for August delivery were up 0.78%, or 13.35, at $1.00 an ounce. Among other commodities, crude oil futures for September delivery fell 0.33%, or $0.32 to settle at $96.03 a barrel, while Brent crude futures for September delivery rose 0.40%, or $0.42, to $104.28 a barrel.

GBP/USD was flat 0.17% to 1.20, while EUR/GBP was unchanged 0.13% to 0.85.

The dollar index fell 0.47% to 106.30.
