Technology Packaging Ltd, the UK specialist in corrosion prevention and protective packaging, has been bought by Desi Kimya, a Turkish manufacturer, the companies said.

The deal, announced on 21-10-26, brings together Desi Kimya's production know-how with Technology Packaging's standing in the UK market and its existing customer base, according to the companies. Desi Kimya has worked in corrosion prevention and moisture control for more than 40 years, the company said. The acquisition is Desi Kimya's first UK acquisition.

Technology Packaging supplies manufacturers of metal components with protection against corrosion during storage and transport under its TechCorro™ brand, with customers spanning foundries, forges and suppliers to the automotive, aerospace and medical industries, the company said. Desi Kimya said the deal gives Technology Packaging access to its wider range of corrosion and moisture protection products, including those sold under its TRUGUARD brand.

Tolga Bayrak, General Manager of Desi Kimya and a director of Technology Packaging, said the move "marks an important step in our international growth strategy and strengthens our ability to serve customers directly in the UK."

Stuart Ingram, General Manager of Technology Packaging Ltd, said: "Becoming part of the Desi Kimya family gives us direct access to manufacturing, technical and product capabilities."

Manufacturing and testing access

Desi Kimya produces its own VCI masterbatch material, which is used to make protective polyethylene film, the company said, and this now gives Technology Packaging access to manufacturing and testing facilities in-house. According to the companies, this is intended to allow Technology Packaging to offer customers a full packaging service built on consultancy work that looks at the make-up of a customer's components, how they are handled, where they are being shipped and the conditions they will be stored in.

Technology Packaging has built up more than 25 years in the corrosion prevention and protective packaging field, the company said. It is due to show both its TRUGUARD and TechCorro™ ranges from stand H166 at Advanced Engineering 2026, which takes place at NEC Birmingham on 4-5 November.
